8:31AM - A project for spikella

I was going through my knitting pages last night to see about planning the new project for when my current scarf if finished and I found the Harry Potter scarves patterns in the bookmarks and immediately thought of our lovely spikella

10:23PM - Mod note.

This community was created for a small group of people who know each other well enough to be welcome in one another's homes, and that being the case, I've done what I should have done in the beginning. This is now a closed community, meaning that people can only join if we add them manually. Posts will remain unmoderated, but are friends-locked by default now (though older entries have to be locked manually, and I can't edit anyone's entries except my own, so you may want to skim back through and lock down if you feel the need to). It's not that I think any of us are against meeting and talking with new people, but I think we can all agree that when we're posting things like directions or phone numbers, we don't want to have to wonder about safety of information. With these things in mind, about a half dozen people have been removed due to inactivity in the community both online and in real life.

If you have any other ideas that you'd like to see, let me know--I want to keep this place active and useful.

2:06PM - thanks for allowing a newb in

Much appreciated folks. My apologies in advance if i have stupid questions and appear especially un-co-ordinated.

I'd be happy to play host as well if you guys don't mind traveling up to North York.

Just a side note... i tried to reply to the comments in the last post but for some reason it won't let me even though i have the community listed as a friend.

spikella has just posted that she wants to learn how to knit.

I think most of us are at least acquainted with her, I'm assuming she'd be welcome to join us.

What do you all think?

Edited to add: I've gone ahead and invited her to join, since it seems like many of us won't mind.

Well apparently I'm a little braindead and just posted this to a crochet community instead of this one...oops

Anyway, I'm offering up my place if people want to do knitting this Thursday.

As an enticement there are still butter tarts and bits and bites available.

2:32PM - Freebies!!!!!

What do I like better than freebies? Nothing. Not one thing.

So I did a little happy dance this afternoon when the yahoo group for freebies to Canada which usually has nothing but junk came up with this link

It's a free skein of Bernat's Disco yarn. It looks pretty funky, as Bernat yarns tend to be, and I've no idea what colour they'll send, but it's free and I thought I'd share.

You can also sign up to be a member at the website and get free patterns...

10:40AM - Aran Patterns for Kids

I've been meaning to post this request for days, but time keeps getting away from me. Go figure ;-)

Do any of you have, or know where I can find, Aran patterns for children. Specifically sweaters and hat patters, but I'll take what I can get.

My aunt wants to make her new grandsons some hats and sweaters and she and my mom figured I'd know where to find them. Forgive me, I haven't googled it on my own yet (I will) I just thought of this, had a minute and thought I would post this.

The kids are newborn and 18 months, but the 18 month old is already wearing toddler clothes. They're going to be big boys, just like their dad ;-)

10:46PM - Knitting this week

Ok, I'm in plan ahead mode, here and so I'm posting now.

I know we had a little bit of a discussion of perhaps moving this week's knitting night to Wed because I know I for one have a Footy fundraiser movie night to go to on Thursday night. And those of the group who were in the room kindly thought we could move it for this week.

So comments, etc...... i would be willing to host it here if it is on Wed. If it ends up being on Thursday then I can't host it, and it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Oh and I seem to have some apple butter for a knitting night soon.
